Do's and Don'ts of Mix and Match Bikinis

I love a good mix and match bikini sometimes, not all the time and quite rarely, but sometimes it's fun to change it up a little. With a lot of brands selling their bikinis as separates now it can save you lots of money during summer. You can splurge on that amazing bikini top at your local boutique or get one shipped online from overseas to mix with that classic black tie up bottom. Sometimes it can lead to you looking tacky or trashy, so here are my tips for the Do's and Don'ts of Mix and Match Bikinis

DO
  • Mix and match any cut of top and bottom E.G Tie side bottom, Bandeau top.
  • Match any two solid colours together. E.G Red Bottom, White top.
  • Match a print with a solid colour but only if the solid colour matches a colour within the print.
  • Match the same/ similar fabrics i.e
  •  Match suits of similar coverage i.e Full Coverage with full coverage, skimpy with skimpy.
Good examples of how to mix and match:

DON’T
  • Don't match a solid color with a print unless it is a colour from within the print. E.G Floral aloha print with Solid Black Top!
  • Don't mix prints, this can rarely be pulled off so its better to avoid it. Unless you know exactly what you're doing.
  • Don't mix lingerie with swimwear, its not a good look. Like who would actually do this?
  • Don't try to mix two different colours that are almost the same to make a matching bikini set. It just doesn't work and it's obviously not the same colour. I used to be guilty of this - now i'm super picky.
  • Don't mix and match large full coverage styles with skimpy minimal styles, you still want to look like the set matches just a little bit, not like you just randomly pulled them out of the draw.
  • Don't mix extremely different materials E.G neoprene top with crotchet bottom - this is just a big no no.
Good examples of how NOT TO mix and match:

Favourite Floral Swimwear 2016

I'm not a fan of floral on anyone, but i love these flirty floral designs. If i was to wear one of these i think i would be super happy and be ready to flaunt it all. You can get so many different varieties of floral colour patterns and styles that it's almost endless and you'll never be able to pick. From soft pastels to eye catching vibrant summer suits there will always be something for someone - even me - the one who isn't a fan of floral most of the time.
These are my current top three floral designs floating around today.

1.ASOS Peach Melba Floral Print Gathered Lace Up Bikini
$39.00 top and $31.00 bottoms.
What a cute combo for any beach or pool party. Mix it up a little with ASOS' own brand of swimwear. These bottoms are pretty full/medium coverage with adjustable ties at the sides -big bonus in my books.

2. Acacia Swimwear Ehukai Rash Guard
$330.00

Acacia Swimwear is a collection of swimsuits inspired by the love of travel and exotic beaches the girls get to call their home away from home. Acacia encompasses the lifestyle of the Gypsetter. It is a fuse between the perfect low cut Italian bikini and flirty Brazilian fit. They're super expensive but super worth it in my eyes. I love the wetsuit/rash guard suits soooo much, they're gorgeous and i would love to have one before i go scuba diving at the end of the year - maybe i will consider it then, who knows?

3. Pavilion Ladder sheer inserts swimsuit
$420
Zimmermann is renowned for its pretty prints, and this duck-egg blue Pavilion Ladder swimsuit showcases one of its SS16 floral motifs. The body-sculpting silhouette is cut with a deep V-neck, and is panelled with mesh at the waist for a modern take. Just add tonal sunglasses poolside. Zimmermann breaks my heart and my bank account with their price tags, they're sold at up market department stores and online too. They're absolutely beautiful, and for those with deep pockets perfect!

Best Swimwear Accessories

There are some things a girl must always have on hand during summer. I found i usually get the cutest things and am ahead of the fashion crowd in Australia if i go online shopping during our winter. Some of the things that i completely recommend coming into summer in Australia in a few months are;

1. Crochet Shorts to slip on after the beach
I swear mine aren't so crisp white, but more a creamy white.  Every girl needs a pair of crochet shorts and i now have 4 pairs. I have two pairs from top shop, these cream ones and a light blue pair from Forever21. They were so easy to purchase and i even got a discount code to make them even more appealing.
RRP:   £17.99

2. Little slip on wedges
These super cute slip on wedges are currently on a crazy sale at Macy's. I got mine months ago when i first found them, but really i should have waited because now they're only $17USD.

3. Russo Straw Hat
Okay so i may have 3 other straw hats for summer that don't include a Lack of Colour sun hat, but i swear, if it wasn't $89.00 i would already have it! for those willing to splurge and spoil themselves, this is exactly the straw hat to go for. This hat will be the star of your summer. The most amazing sun hat i have ever seen. Natural sunflower straw prong sun hat

4. Trendy Beach Towel AKA The Roundie from The Beach People
The Tulum beach towel is my favourite!  it is apparently inspired by salty, sun drenched days by the sea, followed by balmy nights. I've seen roundies sell for around $90+ depending on where you get
them from.

Do You Dare to Bare it?

Do you dare?

With so many different tones of nude, it's slowly becoming the go to colour pallet for bikini designers in 2015-2016 and also going into 2017. They're sexy, go with everything, soft, cheeky but yet still classy - what more could you want? With their subtle colours they can easily be worn under cover ups or your cute daisy duke shorts when you're leaving the beach for the bar for drinks with the girls.

I love the creamy sand coloured nude tones because i'm so pale, i just prefer they way they look. They can be worn on tanned skin or pale skin and would look great on all skin tones in between. These are some of my favourite sandy nude designs and where to get them from!

1. Marysia's 'Antibes' bikini
Is cut from the label's pebbled stretch-crepe and finished with signature scalloped edges. The top is gathered at the front and designed with side boning for added support, while the low-rise briefs hug the hips and complement an athletic frame. This gorgeous sand coloured bikini is forever out of my budget - but a girl can dream. One of these bikinis will set you back around $400AUD+ My favourite part about it is the texture of the material, makes it a little more interesting to look at.

IShine365 Gypsy Zodic Bikini

🔮 Gypsy Vibes for July ✨

"This summer, astrologically, is being called the summer of love. It is the perfect energy to embrace the gypsy vibe and go with the flow of travel.
Whether it is in your own city or to another city or country – embracing the gypsy mentality of going with the flow and traveling will make your summer feel magical. Traveling through your own city and exploring hidden gems will make a place you thought you knew so well… feel new.
I will be gypsy traveling through New Mexico for a month and then going with the flow from there, without any determined plans thus far. Allowing the magic to happen and having plans, new friends and opportunities unravel. Always with a bathing suit on and a beach towel in my trunk just in case there is a body of water I can jump in to. You can follow this vibe and my journey on Instagram or Snapchat SacredSpacess." - Gabi

It's All About the Crochet Bikini

For the first time in years i actually would love a Seafolly 'kini! over the past few seasons i haven't been interested in their colour patters and liked them very much, they also changed the material that they used about 3 years ago so it's not at soft as it used to be. But the Summer Vibes collection is a changing scenario for me! I'll be getting my hands on quite a few pieces in the black and white styles. Below are some more images of the new styles

My first purchase is going to be the Seafolly Summer Vibe Deep V One Piece with;

Chic crochet details in a colour palette of sunset tones
Deep V neckline with removable soft cups & side boning for shape and support
Soft delicate crochet elastic trim
Suitable for a A-C cup size
Open back with soft halter ties at neck
Made from Nylon/Elastane fabric

Look effortlessly chic in this gorgeous crochet one piece, with a deep V neckline and low back, you will be looking smoking hot this summer!
